This is my first plyo box I’ve owned/purchased so I can’t compare it to others, only to itself. The plyo box is sturdy and well made. It has no chemical odor. It comes well packed and includes a paper in broken English of “do and do-nots” and no instructions for assembly which is odd but it’s easy enough to figure out, anyway. There are no inner parts to the box for extra stabilization. The wood sides are laminated layers and are thick and heavy. The side handles are helpful for moving the box around. The edges are smooth, no splintering. The screw holes line up correctly which becomes more apparent once it’s together. During assembly the panels need to be held in place to get the holes to line up completely. It’s not too much effort. The screws are well made, long enough and are sturdy, not cheap or thin. There is an allen wrench included, but it will likely blister and or hurt your fingers with all those (many) screws. If you don’t have a drill with the right adapter you might want to use gloves, share the job with someone else or do it over time instead of all at once. I alternated between hands and it still blistered fingers on both of my hands. For a first-time user of a Plyo Box I started with this one, because it looked quality and at $40 is the lowest priced one I found. It is indeed sturdy (at least enough for me) I like it and am very glad to have it. If you have hard floors, I suggest putting a padded non-slip mat under it. [...]
